History and Historiography of Science

The historian’s task to analyze science as a collective activity encompassing actors, practices, knowledges, spaces, and multiple agencies – all implicated in a process through which both society and scientific knowledge are co-produced. This course addresses the historicity and the social dimension of the sciences, considering not only the contexts in which they are produced but also the practices and processes underlying the formulation, validation, and acceptance of their statements as facts.
