Teresa Huhle is a historian of late 19th and 20th century Latin America. She has written her PhD on the history of transnational population knowledge in Cold War Colombia and has been fascinated with histories of science, technology, and knowledge ever since.

The PhD research led to the book Bevölkerung, Fertilität und Familienplanung in Kolumbien. Eine transnationale Wissensgeschichte im Kalten Krieg [Population, Fertility, and Family Planning in Colombia. A transnational History of Knowledge in the Cold War], published by transcript in 2017: https://www.transcript-verlag.de/978-3-8376-3540-9/bevoelkerung-fertilitaet-und-familienplanung-in-kolumbien/ While no translations have been published yet, you can read reviews in English (Journal of Global South Studies 2020) and Spanish (Historia y Espacio 2018) and find related articles.

Teresa’s current book project has the working title “The Creation of Exceptionalism: How Uruguayan Reformers Imagined and Promoted a “Model Country” in International Arenas and Transnational Networks (1876-1942)” and looks at how ideas and knowledge on social policies travelled the world.
